Group Roles

FACILITATOR/CHAIRPERSON

• clarifies task for the group

• helps keep group on task
• ensures all members have equal air space
• participates as group member

TIME-KEEPER

• helps budget time and tasks
• informs facilitator of time constraints
• participates as a group member

SPOKESPERSON

• listens carefully so that they can portray GROUP  report  to the large group
• speaks for the group 
• participates as a group member

RECORDER

• records group comments
• asks members for clarification if comments are unclear
• steps out of role to offer their own comments as an active group member

ENCOURAGER

•       recognizes contributions
•       maintains group morale/ encourages the group members 
•       participates as a group member
