Snow Storm Day Feb 27
I hope you are warm and safe today! Unfortunately I will not be back to school tomorrow, with the snow storm my father-in-law's funeral was postponed today and is rescheduled for tomorrow. I will see you Monday.

Gerontology February 24 - 28
Unfortunately I am not here until Friday, so our Tuesday tour at Huronview will need to be rescheduled
Here is a look at the upcoming week:
Monday - the 24 hour clock and a start on the skeletal system
Tuesday and Wednesday - we will finish the skeletal system and complete a review sheet....we need to have a test end of this week/beginning of next week
Thursday - Career Assignment..agencies with a focus on gerontology
Friday - possible test?
Here is a look at the upcoming week:
Monday - the 24 hour clock and a start on the skeletal system

Fitness February 24 - 28
Here is a look at the upcoming week:
Monday - a few minutes to study for you test, then you will write your quiz. After the quiz you will move over to the fitness room and work out using your personal plan
Tuesday - there will be a worksheet to complete, please come ready to work out!
Wednesday - you will be working out on your fitness plan for the first 1/2 of the class and then we are focusing on abs....P90X style
Thursday and Friday you will be working out as well, Friday I will have a circuit workout for us
Be sure to have proper clothes and shoes every day

Due to Friday's Ice Day our personal fitness test will be rescheduled to Monday February 24th. Remember that this will be a week A so your class is directly after lunch. You will have 10 minutes to review your notes before the test.

Gerontology Update
At this point in the course we have:
-discussed the myths of aging
-defined ageism and stereotypes
-watched the movie "On Golden Pond" and discussed the movie in light of stereotypes and myths
-handed in an assignment on the movie
-defined social science/qualitative research and the inquiry process
-created and distributed a survey
-organized the results of our inquiry into a presentation

Wednesday - Handwashing, germs
Thursday - Medical specialties in gerontology, 24 hour clock
Friday - Begin learning the bones of the human skeleton

Personal Fitness Update
At this point in the course we have :
-taken notes on the benefits of fitness
-defined all the components of fitness
-completed all the fitness tests
-set two fitness goals for the next 6 weeks
-completed a class demonstration on some of the fitness equipment in the room
-created our own personal fitness plan
If you have been absent and have not completed all the above, then Tuesday Feb 18, you will finish any outstanding fitness tests, ensure you have 2 SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, timely) goals and devise your own fitness plan
From this point on we will settle into a semi-regular routine of: a group warm up, a group workout led by me, followed with 40 minutes for you to work out on your own. The alternative class structure would be an individual warm up followed by your workout and then a group session and group cool down.
Each and every day you need proper clothing and footwear and should be ready to work hard!
AS MENTIONED LAST WEEK .....WE NEED TO SET A DATE FOR A SHORT TEST ON FITNESS TESTING and THE COMPONENTS OF FITNESS
