Nutrition Final Evaluation Project

Food and Nutrition
Final Assessment
Recipe Book Assignment

This assignment has been designed in order to develop and utilize your organizational skills, and produce a project which you will use for many years to come. You need to use a scrap book, a folder, a recipe box, a binder or duo tang.

You will be collecting and categorizing recipes in your own personal recipe book.

Considerable thought should be given to the planning and layout of your book or box. You will need sections and you may wish to use some type of dividers:

The following are some suggestions:
-Main dishes
-Veggies and salads
-muffins and loaf
-cookies, desserts and squares
-beverages

Recipes should be categorized and you can add “helpful hints and anecdotal comments” If you have created some of these recipes you could certainly add pictures of the final product. A professional look is required so you do want to place recipes on a background and perhaps colour code the different sections.

You need a book cover, a title page, and a table of contents. You should also use a variety of sources (magazines, internet, family cook books, recipes used in class) and the sources must be declared in the references page at the end of your book.

It is really important that these recipes are PRACTICAL and not crazy complicated gourmet recipes you would never use. These would be the “recipes to save your life” as Jamie Oliver would say.

Recipe books are due Friday June 14th. You will have class time to work on it but you are expected to work on it on your own time as well. The assignment value is 15% of your final mark
