About Me

Mrs. Godkin

I started my teaching career in 1988 at Seaforth District High School and moved to CHSS in 1992.  I have been here since and have taught a combination of Family Studies, Tech Foods and Personal Fitness over the years, and I have also helped with the 1-2-1 iPad program and have taught in the AMDEC learning platform as well.     At school I organize the snack program and I am a fitness enthusiast who enjoys all aspects of exercise but particularly running, walking, hiking and kayaking.

Mrs Melady, myself and Miss Carter participate in an epic cancer walk September 2011

My husband Ron and I celebrated 31st wedding anniversary this past summer.  We enjoy running together and when we race longer distances I can usually stay ahead of him :)

I have completed 10 regular marathons (42.2km) and 2 ultra marathons (50k or more).  In 2010 and 2012 I was excited to run the Boston marathon.  I have also participated in triathlons and even completed a 1/2 iron distance (2k swim, 90k bike and 21.1k run)

Outside of school I am "mom" to 4 young adults.  On the  left is Brent (26, Graduate of Wilfrid Laurier  University in Biology and currently working  in the e-commerce field, Scott (28, a mechanical engineer working in Elmira, and married in the summer of 2014). On the right is Heather (22, a Kinesiology graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University and studying to become a chiropractor at CMCC in Toronto)  and Laura (25, health science graduate from Wilfrid Laurier University and Kinesiology graduate from  Laurentian University in Sudbury.  After working last year in Ottawa at the heart institute, she is now at Western beginning a Masters in Kinesiology ).  Do not think that you can "pull one over on me" or "slide in a creative and interesting story as to why your work is not completed".....these 4 have kept me on my toes for years and I have heard/know every possible excuse!  Even though my own children do not attend Sunday school anymore I still enjoy teaching the grade 2,3,4 class at my church and I was on the executive for the International Plowing Match that came to Walton in 2017.

I am also Grandma to Ryan, born May 9 2018.
